In accordance with Colonial Audit Department Departmental Instruction No. 39 I forward, herewith, 4 copies of the audited Annual Abstract Account for 1946/47 and 4 copies of the audited Statement of Assets and Liabilities at the 31st of March, 1947, together with 4 copies of

(a) the audited Statement of Special Funds etc. Deposited

in the Treasury,

(b) the audited Statement of Balances (excluding Special Fund

etc.) and

(c) the audited 3tatement of Outstanding Loans payable to

the Colony.

All copies of the above statements have been signed by me as "examined". The Statement of Assets and Liabilities and the Statements referred to at (a), (b) & (c) above are included as Appendices 1, 2, 3, & 4 of the Accountant General's Financial Report for 1946/47, 4 copies of which are forwarded herewith and these statements, as well as the Annual Abstract Account, have been signed by Ir. A.J. Collins Taylor, Acting Accountant General, in the absence of r. Hirst who signed the original copies on the dated shown on the printed or typed statements.

I have not received the Tabular Summary of Unallocated Stores Accounts for 1946/47, 4 copies of which should be signed by me as "examined" and forwarded by you to the Secretary of State as an Appendix to the Statement of Assets and Liabilities at the 31st March, 1947 (para. 20 of the Secretary of State's Circular despatch of the 25th November, 1937, refers). In reply to my request to be furnished with this Statement for examination, the Acting Accountant General referred me to para.33 of the Accountant General's Financial Report for 1946/47 and stated that no tabular summaries have been produced for 1946/47.

3. With reference to my memo. 297/357/48 of the 9th June, 1948, and reminders of 6th July, 1948, and 18th August, 1948, I have not yet received the "Statement of all losses and claims abandoned etc" for examination. In accordance with Colonial

Audit Department Departmental Instruction No. 39, 4 copies of this statement should be signed by me as "examined" and forwarded by you to the Secretary of State, in accordance with para.8 of the Secretary of State's Confidential Circular Tespatch of the 28th September 194.

4. My report on the Accounts for 1946/47 should be ready within a few days but the Statements referred to in para 1 above have been signed and are forwarded in order not to further delay their rendition to the Secretary of State, accordance with para 8 of the Secretary of State's Confidential Circular Despatch referred to in the preceding paragraph.
